IUCN WCPA Endorses WIO-COMPAS

IUCN's World Commission on Protected Areas-Marine (IUCN WCPA) officially endosed the WIO-COMPAS Programme in April, 2009. The WIO-COMPAS Secretariat, Assessors and MPA PROs are honored to receive this recognition and support from the world's leading conservation organization. The endorsement follows from IUCN WCPA's action plan for MPAs, titled Towards Networks of Marine Protected Areas. The MPA Plan of Action. One of their priority areas is to increase management effectiveness through exploring certification schemes.
